About

Hi, I'm Carla

From my base in Bavaria I head out into the Bavarian Alps, to Austria and to Switzerland. Every now and then my bike and I end up further afield. In my day job I'm a software engineer in the medical field.

Why unplugged

Unplugged means letting my head break free from everyday life. And yes, my bike has no battery either. To escape the daily routine for a bit, and to process it, I take time on long weekends for a bikepacking trip. Or a day ride right from home. A few times a year it gets to be a little longer. I'm not after a total digital detox: I carry a smartphone, a small camera and a bike computer. But my thoughts are unplugged from the daily to-dos, I let myself sink into the beauty of the nature around me, and the only real question on my mind is where dinner is tonight.

Why a bed, not a tent

When I travel alone, I always stay in hotels, guesthouses or B&Bs. Why? Because it works for me and suits me better. In the evening there's a bed, a shower and a warm meal waiting for me. Sometimes I sleep in a tent too, but that's the exception, and more likely when I'm out with friends or on a guided trip.
